Durham Street bus stop works
From Monday 20 January, Tauranga City Council will begin construction on a new bus stop facility on Durham Street, between Elizabeth and Spring Streets. These upgrades will improve public transport access and safety, as well as renew the area’s road and streetlighting.
What you need to know
Bus stop closure: The Waikato University - Durham Street (2307) bus stop will be closed from 6:00 AM on Friday 17 January until Tuesday 22 April. Customers who usually use this stop should head to the nearby Durham Street Interchange bus stops. This closure affects routes 1, 2, 5, 22, 40, 52x, 55, 59, 62, 71, 80, 81, and 143.
Detours in place: Due to a one-way road closure, routes 60, 72A, 72B, and 70 will follow a detour when leaving the CBD during the same period. Trips into the CBD remain unaffected.
Traffic changes: Southern Durham Street may reduce to one lane, and there will be occasional full closures outside peak hours. Traffic controllers and signs will direct vehicles during closures.
What it means for you
Clear wayfinding signage will help direct pedestrians around construction zones.
Bus services will continue to operate as usual, but please allow extra time for travel.
