Durham St bus stops are moving

bus stop changes bus stop changes

Bus stop locations and some route timetables are changing. Here’s what you need to know.

Starting Monday 28 April, the temporary bus interchange on Durham Street along with nearby stops on Wharf Street and the Grey Street bus stop will close.

Buses that used these stops will now pick up and drop off from six new bus stops on southern Durham Street, between Spring Street and Elizabeth Street. That is about 200 metres south of the current interchange, just a short walk away.

Route changes from 28 April

Major changes

These routes have the biggest updates. Check your timetable carefully.

Route 52x

Morning trips heading out of the city have been removed due to low demand. If you use this service, please check for alternative options. View the new Route 52x timetable (PDF, 620 KB).

Routes 70 and 71

These services are being replaced by a new combined Route 7 to simplify the network while maintaining key connections. Route 7 will start and end in Tauranga City. This means you can catch the bus from anywhere on this route and travel into the city. View the new Route 7 timetable (PDF, 512 KB).

Routes 80 and 81

Several trip start times are changing. Route 80 now includes Morton Road on all trips. Afternoon departure times have been adjusted to better support student transfers from Toi Ohomai. View the new Route 80 timetable (PDF, 557 KB) and new Route 81 timetable (PDF, 265 KB).

Other updates

Smaller changes that may still affect your daily travel.

Route 2

A new school-day trip has been added from The Boulevard towards the city to help ease overcrowding. View the new Route 2 timetable (PDF, 845 KB).

Route 5

We have changed the location we use to track when the bus is due. It is now Mt Drury instead of Salisbury Avenue. There is no change to the route or timetable, but it may affect how your trip appears online. View the new Route 5 timetable (PDF, 361 KB).

Route 22

Trips from Maungatapu to the city will have slightly earlier start times (up to 5 minutes). View the new Route 22 timetable (PDF, 798 KB).

Routes 40 and 55

We have added more time to some afternoon peak trips to help with on-time arrivals. View the new Route 40 timetable (PDF, 593 KB) and new Route 55 timetable (PDF, 667 KB).
